One last thought: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!Very interesting to hear from the other side when it comes to home warranties. Factory farmers barely make any money off of the chickens that they sell, and the second they try to reduce the amount of chickens per square foot in their facility, their cost goes up and their sales go down. When it comes down to pennies on the dollar, people are going to do what they have to do to eat and survive. It sounds like the real problem here is the actual system the home warranty companies set up, because it does pit customer and contractor against one another. I'm glad to read your side of the argument, anonymous HVAC contractor. The people who buy these home warranty plans do not expect to get something for nothing. We pay several hundreds of dollars per year for that "protection" . just like you probably do for health insurance. We may go for several years without filing a claim, just as you might with your health insurance. But, when you finally do get sick and need to use the policy you have been paying on for years and only owing your co pay is seen as trying to get something for nothing?Have you ever actually thought that opinion of yours through to it's logical end? What is a warranty for? What is insurance for?I would imagine that someday, after paying for your health insurance or a new car with a warranty, for many years without ever using it until a tragedy strikes, you find yourself needing to use the protection you had been PAYING for, only to find someone just like yourself at the other end of the desk. I would pray that is what would befall a person with reasoning like yours.

For the 4th time I was told this would be rushed. I have paid these people thousands of dollars over the past 5 years. I have paid my $100 to the repair guy to fix my dishwasher. It has been a month and a half, my dishwasher is still not working, these people do not work hard to resolve issues, do not call you back when they say they will, and clearly could care less about their customers. It's just a dishwasher. I'd hate to see how long they'd take if it was something serious like plumbing or an air conditioner.

Making the names a little more complicated, HMS is in the process of rebranding to a new name: Cinch Home Services. This all matters because a company's reputation is linked to its name. Name changes and corporate layers, like in this case, make it hard for consumers to research a company. The Better Business Bureau shows more than 2,300 complaints against HomeSure. Better Business Bureau Among the items we found: The Better Business Bureau BBB received more than 2,300 complaints about HomeSure nationwide in the past three years. That sounds like a lot, but as past Bamboozled columns have shown, it's impossible to tell whether a complaint number is high or low without having the perspective of knowing how much business a company does.
